How to travel from Danang to Hue

Hue city is about 100km from Da Nang, it will takes about 2,5-3 hours getting to Hue from Da Nang. These are some most convenient transportation  that you can choose to travel from Danang to Hue.

Bus Da Nang to Hue

A popular transportation for tourists traveling from Da Nang to Hue. You can choose a local bus or open bus for the trip to Hue, the ticket fare is a bit difference between the two. There are many bus scheduled departing every 30 minutes to 1 hour. If you choose local bus, you might save a bit but you need to travel to the bus station by taxi or motorbike. I suggest that you book a bus ticket with a travel agency in Da Nang, they might pick you up at your hotel in Da Nang. If you are arriving to Da Nang airport and want to travel from Da Nang airport to Hue, you can also book in advance and the bus will pick you up at a place near the airport or a place you choose in city center.
Some of the bus company running on Da Nang to Hue, I could recommend such as Phuong Trang bus, Hanh Café bus, Sinh Tourist bus, with normal price is 90,000 VND (~US$4)/trip. There are also some high quality car such as HAV Limousine… with the price from 140,000 VND to 160,000 VND (~US$6.5-$7.5)/trip.
However when you choose the bus transportation to Hue, the bus will go via Hai Van tunnel instead of going over Hai VanPass, so you will miss the chance to admire the natural beauty of Hai Van Pass and Lang Co beach.

Train Da Nang to Hue

There are 7 some trains scheduled departing from Da Nang to Hue including SE2, SE4, SE6, SE8, SE20, SE22, and TN2. You can book a seat on the train for hard or soft seat, hard or soft beds.. Each cabin is designed with comfortable seating and air-conditioned. The fare is usually from 35,000 VND to 90,000 VND/ticket depending on which of train and the type of seat.


It’s recommended that you book the train ticket in advance as it’s rarely available to buy when you come to railway station. If you arrive to Da Nang airport, it’s easy to get to railway station to catch the train to Hue.
An interesting point of traveling by train Danang to Hue is that you will have the chance to admire the scenery of the Bach Ma Mountain range of Hai Van Pass and enjoy many other scenic landscape where the train passes.

Taxi or Private car transfer

Taxis or rent private car with driver are also a very convenient option to travel from Da Nang to Hue, you are also able to request some stops on the way in Hai Van Pass, Lang Co beach, Elephant Springs… However, with the distance of more than 100km, the price is not cheap. Normally 5-seat taxi to Hue is 1,250,000 VND (one way, 100km) and 1,500,000-1,700,000 VND (two way, one day), private car costs a bit more but it’s also more convenient and you can also have your trip in Hue city before drop you off at your place.
